let’s do shorter form devlogs because I’m really really bad at writing. lmfao.

been distracted with the server, so actual game progress have been slow. I have been working on music and level design on paper. have some screenshots :3


here is a draft design for the hub:

I have most of (the creatively named) area-0 complete, aside from some polish and bonus levels that don’t matter right now. the idea is that from area-0, you get dropped into the hub where most other areas will be accessed. I want players to go from area-0 straight to area-1 without getting distracted, so the hub will be initially flooded with something (I haven’t decided what yet) that makes it impossible to access anything else. as soon as area-1 is complete though, the entire hub will be opened. some areas will be locked off by knowledge checkpoints or objects that haven’t spawned in. I have the image of a pit of spikes getting filled with water, for example.

shitty drawing, but I didn’t happen to have any other sketch on my drive and I felt like there had to be at least something here so here. lmao. idk the gender of this thing. I think nova is kinda outside the scope of gender? so I’ll refer to them as they/them for convinience ig.
